The Central Coast isn't just a beach area. There is a big horse community scattered throughout San Luis Obispo County. Below are designated portions of the Central Coast that are ideal horse areas located within the listed cities.
Arroyo Grande
Lopez and Huasna Areas
Ranchita Estates - Nestled in a secluded valley approximately 4 miles past Lopez Lake and 15 miles from the Village of Arroyo Grande, this is ideal equestrian area, as you can ride/hike directly from your property onto 23 miles of private deeded trails that connect to open BLM land.
High Mountain Road - This road runs behind Lopez Lake and is a fun, scenic mostly dirt road that connects the Lopez Lake and Pozo areas. Tons of trails to ride on.
Huasna - The Huasna area is full farms, ranches, woods, creeks, hill top vistas and more. The road is a paved dead-end road about 9 miles long, with limited traffic and great scenery.
Country and Canyon Area
Oak Park, Printz Road, Noyes Road, Carpenter Canyon and Corbett Canyon - Farms, ranchettes and breathtaking homes with acreage offering horse pastures, creeks, hilltop vistas with ocean views. Corbett Canyon is home to Varian Arabians.
Nipomo
Nipomo Mesa - Just a few minute's from the beach, this area offers a rich equestrian history and tradition, including working cattle ranches, training and show facilities, competitions, World famous stud farms. Just about every property has at lease one horse in the backyard. There are awesome trails in Nipomo, as it is a very horse friendly community.
Temetate Ridge - Echo Mountain and Clamshell Hill are located in this area, and was the home of Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston for a time.
San Luis Obispo - Edna Valley, Santa Margarita
Avila Valley - See Canyon, Perfumo Canyon
North County - Atascadero, Paso Robles, Templeton, Shandon, Chalome
